Religion

"Religion has convinced people that there’s an invisible man…living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn’t want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer and burn and scream until the end of time. But he loves you. He loves you and he needs money"

....it's all about your perception

Loneliness

“The trouble is not that I am single and likely to stay single, but that I am lonely and likely to stay lonely.”
― Charlotte Brontë

“The most terrible poverty is loneliness, and the feeling of being unloved.”
― Mother Teresa

“
Loneliness is the human condition. Cultivate it. The way it tunnels into you allows your soul room to grow. Never expect to outgrow loneliness. Never hope to find people who will understand you, someone to fill that space. An intelligent, sensitive person is the exception, the very great exception. If you expect to find people who will understand you, you will grow murderous with disappointment. The best you'll ever do is to understand yourself, know what it is that you want, and not let the cattle stand in your way.”
― Janet Fitch

“Where you used to be, there is a hole in the world, which I find myself constantly walking around in the daytime, and falling in at night. I miss you like hell.”
― Edna St. Vincent Millay

“All I ever wanted was to reach out and touch another human being not just with my hands but with my heart.”
― Tahereh Mafi

“sex is the consolation you have when you can't have love”
― Gabriel García Márquez

“God, but life is loneliness, despite all the opiates, despite the shrill tinsel gaiety of "parties" with no purpose, despite the false grinning faces we all wear. And when at last you find someone to whom you feel you can pour out your soul, you stop in shock at the words you utter - they are so rusty, so ugly, so meaningless and feeble from being kept in the small cramped dark inside you so long. Yes, there is joy, fulfillment and companionship - but the loneliness of the soul in its appalling self-consciousness is horrible and overpowering.”
― Sylvia Plath

George Carlin

I need a little funny in my life right now... "The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, “You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I’m just not close enough to get the job done.” "Fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity" "Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?" "I think people should be allowed to do anything they want. We haven’t tried that for a while. Maybe this time it’ll work" "I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older; then it dawned on me – they’re cramming for their final exam" "Just cause you got the monkey off your back doesn’t mean the circus has left town"

The reason

"The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be" Marcel Pagnol

People

"People are a mystery, sometimes even to themselves. And they all have secrets. Only rule I know is that every time you think you have them figured out, they change. We all do" - Defiance

Reflection

I firmly believe that all artists excel in at least two art forms. Ichycat, a great friend of mine considers himself an artist in the capacity of drawing, illustration. After a couple months of conversation with him, I found that he is actually quite gifted with his words too...although he denies it vehemently.

"I look at myself as the Moon. I'm dark, but I shine bright in the light. Without light I'm not seen, therefore not beautiful"

"Time is all anybody in this world has and most people spend it like they're running out. I like to treat it delicately. Things will come to you if you let time do its job"

"I've been told I could be a writer, but the spoils in my heart constrict what could be that of good literature"

Beauty

"You know what I love about beauty? I can ask thirty different people to describe it and they can provide thirty different examples. That's the definition of beauty" ....that little gem belongs to me =)

Hopeless Romance

My coworkers and I were talking about our age variance and our respective love lives today. The topic came up as the next oldest (as I am the youngest by a few years) has taken to a guy my age and evidently goes through A LOT with him. the eldest is thinking she's a hopeless romantic. And thus, the discussion progressed. So to mark my return to this blog, I offer some thoughts on hopeless romance

"You're a hopeless romantic in a world with no hope or romance"

"I'm a hopeless romantic who has discovered that romance is hopeless"

"Not to be with the one you love, the one person you should be spending your life with - its like a kind of living death. To wake up every morning and know you are still here; To have that brief, sweet moment of blankness, before your mind reminds you who you are, why you're unhappy. It's like hell - a living hell of the heart's own making"

"She had realized that they couldn't be together. She didn't wan to make a romantic drama out of it...even though she felt as if something fundamental, deep within her, had been taken away. She was simply trying to cope, to get on with her normal life. Which she knew was something he could not be part of"
